Overall I had a decent experience here.
Lets start with what I liked. The service given was good. Drinks were good but a little pricey. I liked some of the dishes as well. The pippies were great with the vermicelli but the sauce is definitely different to how it's done at other restaurants. A little more milder. I enjoyed the roast duck soup. I really enjoyed the King crab fried rice with all the crispy bits. The desserts were good. The deep Fried ice cream was quite the spectacle but the weakest dessert. The mango dessert was good along with the raspberry one as well.
Now to the things I didn't like. The Peking Duck was definitely not to standard. Most pieces did not have crispy skin and fails that test. I also find the lobster to be too expensive, and was only ordered as a friend definitely wanted it which was fine. At the time of this post, the lobster was 319 per kilo, pippies were 99 per kilo and mud crab I forgot was either 150 or 250 a kilo. I did try to call the restaurant beforehand to get the price but was met with someone working at head office who didn't know the prices.
Overall it was a good dining experience bar 2 or 3 things. Would have been 140/head if the lobster was not ordered but came to 200ish. If you're after a good Chinese meal I'd go to a more traditional Chinese restaurant instead.

Mr. Wong, a traditio...
Mr. Wong, a traditional Chinese restaurant under the ownership of Merivale, boasts delightful cuisine and a captivating ambiance. The dim sums offered here stand out as some of the finest in Sydney. However, my overall experience is tinged with disappointment. My decision to not return stems from the considerable expense combined with the underwhelming quality of the live crab I ordered.
Opting for the Singaporean-style black pepper live mud crab, I had anticipated a customary presentation of the crustacean. Regrettably, this was absent, and although I might have overlooked this absence had the crab been more satisfying, my expectations were not met. The crab dish arrived with a delectable sauce, but the crab itself left much to be desired. It was noticeably meager, with very little edible meat to enjoy. Despite extensive efforts, my partner and I struggled to extract any substantial meat from the crab's various parts.
Given that Mr. Wong purportedly sources its seafood from the esteemed Red Claw Seafood, the presence of such an undernourished crab raises questions about its selection and preparation process. Particularly disheartening is the nearly $250 price tag attached to this dish. As a result of this experience, I now value the seafood at my local Chinese restaurants more.
It's unfortunate that despite the restaurant's strengths, I find it challenging to consider a return visit based on this disappointment.

We came here for lunch (you need to book in advance) and were very pleasantly surprised by the great service.
We had great duck and king crab fried rice, amazing dim sum and they had a great selection of wines.
I will definitely be coming back for dinner, the venue is quite beautiful!
I can recommend!

To be honest, the food here is mediocre but the service and atmosphere of the restaurant is outstanding.
The dishes are simple Cantonese ones dressed up to impress those who aren't familiar with the real deal. The duck and savoury dishes were SO salty... It was just soaked in sweet soy sauce. The dim sum was pretty average and the fish had a bit too much MSG for me.
A happening place for sure, but unfortunately won't be coming back again.

Mr.Wong was fantastic. Everything from the food to the service. So much so that we came twice in one week.
We came once for lunch and once for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious and they were very accommodating with food allergies which was great.
The staff was very friendly.
Highly recommend coming here for either lunch or dinner and make sure to try their Mr. Wong’s fried ice-cream for dessert.

Easy to miss old war...
Easy to miss old warehouse looking Chinese restaurant in the alleyway. No clear signages around. At 1:30pm, it was hustling bustling with customers dining and wining (hence we were seated late even with a reservation). Extensive selection of wine, and the servers were great recommending the wine to pair. The French server from Lyon was so helpful and pleasant.
Low key light and exposed wooden beams and bricks, and arch window of course are my weaknesses so I was charmed by the atmosphere.
Foods however were not too charming. Small portions (4 pieces of thin steamed fish at $54? Perhaps the menu should have photos so guests know what they are getting into), not all that special flavours except maybe for the sweet and sour pork. S&S Pork was extraordinary being served in cubes instead of the usual battered and deep fried with sauce version. The texture of the meat (where do I begin???) and the flavour of the sauce were surely interesting, however came with high level of sodium. The fried rice had interesting topping that gave added texture with every bite and the portion was huge. I never order fried rice when I go out, but in this occasion I was glad someone ordered it.
Ohhhhh the desert!!! The Mango pudding with lychee shaved ice was refreshing as well as the raspberry desert. The tempura ice cream with the caramel sauce was super. The chocolate mouse with salty sweetness was lovely. They deserve 5 stars.

Finally popped my Mr Wong cherry today and it did not disappoint! The banquet for 2 was phenomenal and great value, there was so much food we struggled to finish it! Highlights were the prawn toast, pork hock, calamari and the deep fried icecream 🤤 we had a lovely waitress from Connecticut who made our experience wonderful. We will be back!

What a memorable lun...
What a memorable lunchtime experience at Mr.Wong! The food and service were top-notch and best in class for a Cantonese restaurant.
The ambience and setting were uniquely beautiful, and takes you back to the British Colonial era of Hong Kong.
We ordered the char siu chicken, the dim sum set, pork belly, mapo tofu, King crab fried rice. All are so delicious.
We tried all of the desserts. They are all very yummy above our expectation.
Kudos to the Manager, Lily for recommending the desserts! A must try for all visitors to Sydney.

The decor and atmosphere were immaculate. The Indonesian girl who was serving us were very welcoming and lovely. The food was alright, I wasn’t impressed by the duck or the king crab fried rice despite their popularity. Same goes with the dessert that I had which was the deep fried ice cream.

I've visited this place several times when hosting family and friends who wanted to try.
While some dishes like dimsum definitely showcase an elevated cuisine, others do not.
Considering the high prices, I find it to be somewhat overrated
